Northlake Building Renovation
This project is the transformation of a 1970s vintage 2-story restaurant along the north shore of Lake Union in Seattle into a mixed-use building with a new restaurant/bar space on the 1st floor and offices on the 2nd floor. The existing building was in poor condition and all systems and finishes required updating. The renovation included an extensive facelift to the exterior using reclaimed wood siding, new aluminum windows, and skylights providing ventilation and light to the offices on the second floor.
The 2-story building has offices on the second floor for the client, a real estate management company, and a restaurant space on the first floor at ground level facing the water. The restaurant space was a separate tenant improvement project by Graham Baba Architects featuring a large folding door opening to an outdoor dining space facing Lake Union. The project design is largely influenced by its waterfront context both in its semi-industrial character and planning that emphasizes interaction with the waterfront environment.
